Pearl Banquet in Hicksville is one of the newest South Asian wedding venues on Long Island, and one we play often. It opened in 2023 and has become a popular choice for South Asian families, with a covered entrance where baraats arrive and in-house menus that cover cuisines from across South Asia. This guide covers what to know about the venue and how we plan music, sound and production there.

Planning the baraat at Pearl
Pearl’s covered entrance is a natural spot for the baraat to arrive and for the bride’s family to welcome the groom’s side. The covered entrance also helps when the weather turns. We set up a mobile DJ rig, or a dhol-and-DJ combo, in the lot and move with the procession to the entrance.
- Keep it tight. The route in a parking lot is short, so plan fifteen to twenty minutes of dancing and a clear finish point for the milni.
- Plan the welcome. If the bride’s family is planning a surprise performance at the entrance, we’ll cue the track as the baraat arrives.
- Build the playlist around the moment. Start with our baraat song list.
Receptions in the ballroom
Pearl’s ballroom is decorated in gold tones with chandeliers, which makes a great backdrop for a South Asian reception. Here’s what we plan for:
- Grand entrances: timed with the MC, lighting cues and, if you like, cold sparklers, CO2 or low fog.
- Family performances: every track collected ahead of time and run on a cue list with the MC, so there’s no dead air between acts.
- Visuals: a video wall for slideshows, a live camera feed and your monogram.
- Dance floor: a custom dance floor or monogram wrap to personalize the room.
- The open floor: Bollywood, Bhangra, Punjabi, hip hop and top 40, read off the crowd so every generation stays on the floor.
Sangeets, walimas, mehndis and more
Because Pearl has more than one space, it works well for the smaller events around a wedding: a mehndi, a sangeet or a walima. Each event needs a different energy, and we plan the music and lighting for each one. Read our guides to sangeet DJs on Long Island, Pakistani wedding DJs on Long Island and walima DJ services in New York.
Why couples book DNA Events for Pearl
Our New York office is in Farmingdale, a short drive from Pearl, and we’ve played the venue many times. We know the rooms, the load-in and the staff, so setup is smooth and your timeline stays on track. DJ, MC, lighting, dance floors, effects, video walls and photo booths all come from one company, so you have fewer vendors to manage.
