The Marigold in Somerset is one of the New Jersey venues where we perform most often. It hosts Hindu, Punjabi, Gujarati and Jain weddings and has the space for a big South Asian celebration: two ballrooms, an outdoor ceremony area and a garden with a marble gazebo. Here’s what to know about the venue and how we plan music and production there.

Planning the baraat at The Marigold
The long driveway makes a great baraat route. Many processions start near the end of the drive and dance up to the entrance. Ask the venue to block off the route for safety, and plan for about 30 to 45 minutes from start to milaap.
- Mobile sound: we bring a battery-powered DJ setup or dhol-and-DJ combo that moves with the group. See our mobile baraat DJ guide.
- Playlist: start with high-energy Punjabi tracks and finish with the family favorites. Our baraat entrance ideas have more inspiration.
- Timing: the bride’s side waits at the entrance, so we keep in touch with the coordinator so the arrival happens on time.
Outdoor ceremony by the gazebo
The outdoor ceremony area holds a large guest count, so sound has to reach the back rows clearly. We set up speakers around the seating, put wireless mics on the pandit and anyone reading, and play soft instrumental music through the rituals. If the weather turns, we can move sound indoors with the ceremony.
Reception in the Marigold Ballroom
With crystal chandeliers and an oversized dance floor, the Marigold Ballroom is built for a full South Asian reception. How we plan the night:
- Entrances and first dance: timed with uplighting and spotlights, plus dry ice or cold sparklers if you want the “dancing on the clouds” look.
- Performances: we run every family performance from a cue list with the MC so the program flows.
- Visuals: a video wall beside the stage for slideshows and live camera feeds.
- Dance floor: Bollywood, Bhangra, Garba sets for Gujarati families, hip hop and top 40, mixed to keep every generation dancing.
Sangeet or mehndi in the Sandalwood Ballroom
The Sandalwood Ballroom suits pre-wedding events of up to about 240 guests. It’s a great size for a sangeet with family performances, or a mehndi with a lounge setup and relaxed music. We can also add lounge decor and a photo booth.
