Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury is one of the Long Island venues we play most often. It’s a favorite for South Asian families because the whole wedding weekend can happen in one place: the baraat outside, the ceremony in the gardens, cocktail hour by the pool and the reception in a ballroom built for a big dance floor. This guide covers what to know about the property and how we plan music, sound and production there.

Planning the baraat at Crest Hollow
Crest Hollow starts baraats in a set area of the property, so the groom’s side can gather before making their way to the ceremony. That works well for us. We set up a mobile DJ rig or dhol-and-DJ combo at the gathering point and move with the procession, so the energy builds all the way to the milaap.
- Agree on the route early. Know where the procession starts, where it ends and how long it should take. Twenty to thirty minutes of dancing is a good target before guests start to tire.
- Plan for rain. Ask the venue for the indoor backup route, and we’ll plan sound for both.
- Build the playlist around the moment. Our baraat song list is a good place to start, and we’ll mix in the family’s requests.
Ceremony sound in the gardens
Outdoor ceremonies by the gazebo or in the gardens need clear, gentle sound. Guests at the back should hear the pandit and the vows without the front rows feeling blasted. We use discreet speakers and wireless mics for the officiant and readers, and play soft instrumental music for the pheras and ceremony transitions. If the ceremony moves indoors because of weather, we move with it.
Cocktail hour by the pool
The pool deck is one of the most photographed spots at Crest Hollow. We usually keep music here relaxed, with lounge Bollywood, acoustic covers and light house, so guests can talk while the couple takes photos. If you’d like a little more energy, a live percussionist with the DJ works very well outdoors.
Reception in the Grand Ballroom
The Grand Ballroom has high ceilings, mahogany columns, chandeliers and a large dance floor. It suits a full South Asian reception. A few things we plan for here:
- Grand entrances: timed with the MC, lighting cues and, if you like, cold sparklers or CO2.
- Family performances: we collect every track ahead of time and run a cue list with the MC, so there’s no dead air between acts.
- Dance floor: a custom dance floor or monogram wrap adds a personal touch to the room.
- Visuals: a video wall for slideshows, a live camera feed and your monogram between performances.
- The open floor: Bollywood, Bhangra, hip hop and top 40, read off the crowd so aunties, uncles and friends all stay on the floor.
Multi-day weddings at Crest Hollow
Many families hold the mehndi or sangeet in one room and the wedding and reception in others over the same weekend. If that’s your plan, we can handle every event with one team, one music plan and one point of contact. Read our multi-day wedding planning guide and our Long Island sangeet DJ guide for more.
Why couples book DNA Events for Crest Hollow
Our New York office is in Farmingdale, about 15 minutes from Crest Hollow, and we’ve played the venue many times. We know the load-in, the rooms and the staff, so setup is smooth and your timeline stays on track. DJ, MC, lighting, dance floors, effects, video walls and photo booths all come from one company, which means fewer vendors for you to manage.
